pH-Balanced for Puppies
WHY IT MATTERS FOR PUPPIES
Puppy skin is up to 3x thinner and more permeable than adult dog skin. The wrong shampoo can disrupt their developing pH balance and cause lasting irritation.

A puppy's skin barrier is still developing during the first months of life. It's far more permeable and reactive than adult dog skin, meaning harsh surfactants, sulfates, or fragrances can cause immediate irritation or strip away essential moisture.
Adult dog skin sits between pH 6.5–7.5, but puppies tend toward the higher end and are more sensitive to disruption. ZUMS uses only mild, amino-acid-derived cleansers (like Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate and Coco-Glucoside) that clean without altering their natural pH.
The coat habits formed in puppyhood matter. Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) and Hydrolyzed Phytokeratin support healthy hair follicle development, not just cleaning, but actively giving your puppy the best start for a full, healthy coat as they grow.
Every ingredient is carefully chosen to be ultra-gentle on sensitive puppy skin, maintain their delicate pH balance, and keep their very first coat soft and healthy.
The gentlest skin soother available. Naturally calms sensitive puppy skin, prevents dryness and flaking, and creates a soft protective barrier, ideal for puppies experiencing their very first baths.
A plant-based oil that mimics a puppy's natural skin oils. Keeps their developing coat moisturized and healthy without any synthetic ingredients or harsh chemicals.
Strengthens and softens each delicate puppy hair strand from the inside out. Supports healthy coat development during the critical early growth stage.
A calming botanical prized for its ultra-mild anti-inflammatory properties. Perfect for soothing puppy skin that's new, reactive, or prone to post-bath redness.
A naturally-derived humectant that draws moisture deep into puppy skin. Keeps skin soft and supple between baths. No drying out, no tight or irritated skin.
The cleanser we chose for a reason: it's one of the mildest surfactants available. Gently removes dirt and mess from your puppy's coat without stripping their natural oils.

Our 10-week-old Labrador had his very first bath with ZUMS and it could not have gone better. The formula is so gentle. No drama, no tears, no fuss. His coat came out unbelievably soft and smelled amazing. Already ordered a second bottle.

Our vet specifically recommended a sulfate-free, pH-balanced shampoo for our new French Bulldog puppy and ZUMS ticked every box. His skin is so soft and his coat looks healthy. Love that it's plant-powered with no harsh chemicals. I feel totally safe using it.

My Cockapoo puppy was terrified of baths at first. The tear-free formula meant I didn't have to worry about her eyes, and the gentle lather seemed to calm her down. After three washes she actually trots to the bath on her own. The colloidal oatmeal keeps her coat fluffy and soft.

Everything you need to know about bathing your puppy with ZUMS.
ZUMS is safe to use on puppies from 8 weeks of age. Before 8 weeks, puppies should not be bathed at all as they cannot yet regulate their own body temperature. Once your puppy reaches 8 weeks, ZUMS's gentle, sulfate-free formula is perfectly suited to their developing skin and coat.
Yes — ZUMS uses only mild, amino-acid-derived cleansers (Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Coco-Glucoside) that are specifically chosen because they won't sting or irritate eyes. That said, we still recommend keeping shampoo away from the eye area as a precaution, and washing the head last during bath time.
For most puppies, bathing every 2–4 weeks is ideal. Bathing too frequently can strip the natural oils that protect a puppy's developing skin — but with ZUMS's moisturizing formula, it's much gentler than standard shampoos. If your puppy gets muddy or smelly between baths, a targeted rinse with warm water is usually enough.
Yes. ZUMS is suitable for all breeds and coat types — from short, smooth coats (Beagles, French Bulldogs) to long, thick coats (Golden Retrievers, Border Collies). The Hydrolyzed Phytokeratin and Jojoba Oil in the formula support healthy coat development regardless of fur type.
Most regular dog shampoos contain sulfates, synthetic fragrances, or parabens that are too harsh for puppy skin. ZUMS uses exclusively plant-derived cleansers, no sulfates, no artificial fragrances, and no parabens. The formula is specifically pH-balanced for the higher, more sensitive end of the canine pH range that puppies sit in.
Absolutely. In fact, ZUMS is ideal for sensitive-skinned puppies. Colloidal Oatmeal and Calendula Extract both help calm reactive, red, or dry skin. The formula contains no known common allergens and is free from artificial dyes, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances — the most common triggers for skin reactions in young dogs.
Start early and keep it short — 5 to 10 minutes is plenty. Use lukewarm (not hot) water, speak calmly, and reward your puppy with a treat immediately after. ZUMS's gentle, non-stinging formula helps make the experience comfortable from the first wash. The more positive early baths are, the easier future grooming becomes for both of you.
